Emily and Ellie from Windsor High School and Sixth Form have been on work experience placements with us all this week, here they share their highlights form this week.

Both of us are currently studying dance at High School. When it came to applying for work experience DanceXchange came to mind, as they offer various dance opportunities that we were interested in finding more.

When arriving on our first day we were told about our schedule for the week, and were introduced to all the different departments and job roles within the organisation. Some of the roles that we looked at were programming,  marketing, participation, operations and finance. This was interesting because we got to learn about what goes on behind the scenes of DanceXchange, and information about the job roles in depth. We were also given a tour of the Hippodrome complex by Kavita WD, Operations Manager.

Throughout the week there has been certain highlights that have stood out for us both including observing professional classes and rehearsals in the Dx studios. However the most exciting part of our week was being watching company class of Matthew Bourne’s ‘The Red Shoes’ currently on tour at Birmingham Hippodrome.

Thank you to DanceXchange for allowing us to come and complete our work placement here with you, it’s been an enjoyable week for us both!

Emily: I am currently going into Year 13 studying dance at sixth form. Once I have completed my final year I am looking to audition at some conservatoires and universities to do a dance degree and go into performing.

Ellie: I am also going into my final year at sixth form where I am studying BTEC Extended Diploma in dance. After sixth form I hope to audition at various universities and conservatoires to pursue my dance career.
