FABRIC is pleased to announce two exciting new opportunities created in partnership with leading Midlands-based organisations which reflect our ambitious vision to invest in creation and new work and inspire development of the dance sector.

In collaboration with Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage, FABRIC is offering an opportunity for dance artists from the African and African Caribbean Diaspora, to showcase their work at The Black British Dance Platform 2023 on 3 May 2023.

The platform is part of Serendipity and FABRIC’s joint commitment to affect long-term change in dance through the leadership of both organisations. This collaboration supports our shared aims to cultivate a sector that is representative of contemporary Britain, broadens the presence of independent artists internationally and enriches international perspectives into England’s dance ecology.

As part of the Midlands4Cities Doctoral Training Partnership De Montfort University has partnered with FABRIC to offer a Collaborative Doctorial Award (CDA) programme entitled Reflecting Organisational Transformation through New Curatorial Practice.  This is a unique opportunity to interrogate FABRIC’s archives which contain historically significant performance and practice-related materials.

The successful candidate will use archival and curatorial research practices to explore strategies for driving transformation in dance regionally and nationally.   The project will inform new narratives and priorities through which FABRIC may develop its strategic positioning. The aim is to evaluate how curatorial practices can impact dance sectors and create new insight into future work and its presentation to new audiences.
