NPO & IDFB Update

Last week DX was delighted to receive confirmation of ACE NPO funding for 2018-22, enabling us to continue to connect people with great dance, nurture young dancers and champion some of the UK’s best dance talent. We’re proud to be an important part of making Birmingham a place where dance and dance artists can flourish – and we look forward to working with partners and artists across the city and beyond to strengthen our impact over the next five years, building on the new ACE NPO investment in dance in the region.

DanceXchange is an important part of Birmingham’s vibrant cultural scene, creating opportunities for people of all ages to experience the joy of dance. We look forward to seeing our funding over the next four years support them to inspire more people across the city and beyond.
Going forward, DanceXchange is thrilled to announce a new collaboration with Paul Russ, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Dance4 and the biennial Nottdance Festival. Paul (pictured above) will join the team as Associate Artistic Director of International Dance Festival Birmingham 2018 (IDFB 2018) working alongside Lucie Mirkova, Artistic Director (Interim) of DanceXchange and IDFB. Paul will contribute to the development of the programme and partnerships for 2018 festival and work with us as we establish new possibilities for future editions of the festival. We will reveal our exciting festival line up later this year.

It’s great to have Paul on board in this next exciting phase of development for IDFB. There is huge opportunity to further develop the role of IDFB as a catalyst for collaboration and a shop window for the city’s vibrant dance scene. I look forward to working with Paul to develop existing and new partnerships that will strengthen the festival’s impact on audiences and dance artists alike.

This is a great opportunity for Dance4 and DanceXchange to work more closely together and to strengthen our collaboration across the Midlands. This role will place the Midlands region at the forefront of international and national dance festival development and will deepen the support for independent artists from the region and beyond.
